BT Sport Box Office FAQs

BT Sport Box Office is a collection of TV channels that lets you buy and watch live pay-per-view events. All events will be advertised on the BT Sport website. Go to the BT Sport Box Office website.

On BT TV

If you’re a BT TV Customer then you can buy and watch BT Sport Box Office events on BT TV. 

On app and web

Please visit BT Sport Box Office for information on the BT Sport Box Office app. 

On Sky TV

If you’ve got a Sky box and a Sky viewing card, you can buy and watch a BT Sport Box Office event. 

On Virgin TV

If you’re a Virgin Media customer helpful information will be displayed on your set top box and you can also find out more online.

On TalkTalk TV

If you’re a TalkTalk TV Customer then you can buy and watch events on your TalkTalk TV box on channel 494

In the Republic of Ireland

Yes, BT Sport Box Office events are an additional charge to subscription services.

This event is only available in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Republic of Ireland customers should refer to Sky Ireland to find out how to watch the event. 

No. You’ll only be able to view the event through a BT TV, Sky or Virgin set top box if you pay for the event through those channels.

On BT TV:

BT Sport Box Office is channel 494 on BT TV.

BT Sport Box Office 2 is channel 495 on BT TV.

On Sky TV:

BT Sport Box Office is channel 490 on Sky TV.

BT Sport Box Office 2 is channel 494 on Sky TV.

On Virgin:

There is no BT Sport Box Office channel and all events are available through the On Demand section on your set top box.

Subtitles are available for all of our events on BT TV, Sky & Virgin. Unfortunately we are unable to make them available on our BT Sport Box Office app right now. 

BT Sport Box Office on Sky

For Boxing or UFC events

•If you are an active Sky customer you can purchase the event via your sky box or by heading to https://www.sky.com/boxoffice/btsport

•If you are not an active Sky customer you will be unable to watch on Sky and will need to purchase to watch online or app

For WWE events

•If you are currently a BT Sport subscriber on Sky, you can purchase the event via your Sky box, or if you can buy online.

•If you have Sky but currently don’t subscribe to BT Sport, first you’ll need to register and pay for your first event with BT by credit/debit card. Once you’ve bought your event, you’ll be able to see the event by pressing Box Office on your Sky remote or tuning to the BT Sport Box Office channels 490/494.

If you subscribe to BT Sport on a second Sky Q box, you’ll be able to see BT Sport Box Office on your Sky Q Mini. Otherwise, BT Sport Box Office will be available on your main Sky Q box only and will be unavailable on Sky Q Mini or Sky Q App devices, even if you receive other channels through these. 

Sky Glass/Sky Stream customers can purchase and view BT Sport Box Office Boxing and UFC events. However, WWE events are not currently available on Sky Glass/Sky Stream.

If you bought online or over the phone there may be a short delay before your event is delivered to your set top box. This should only be a few minutes, but at busy times it could take a bit longer.

 

For Sky+HD boxes: press Services on your Sky remote, select Settings, and then Details.

For Sky Q boxes: press Home on your Sky Q remote, select Settings, then System Info.

Your Sky Viewing Card must be in your Sky box before you make any purchases.

The event will only show on the Sky box you order it to. You’ll need to buy it on each Sky box individually if you want it in multiple rooms.

The event will only be available to record if you’ve bought via your Sky remote and have Sky+ enabled. If you’ve bought online or over the phone, then you won’t be able to record. 

For Boxing or UFC events

Billing is managed by Sky and charges will be on your Sky bill. Further help information can be found here

For WWE events

If you bought online by credit or debit card via the website you’ll be charged immediately.

If you bought on your Sky box, non-BT Sport subscribers will be charged via credit or debit card, and existing customers via their BT bill. 

You can update your payment details in your account just log in and select My Account. 

No, you’ll need to pay via Sky TV.

For Boxing or UFC events

If you’ve ordered through your Sky box then you can only cancel through your Sky box. This can only be done 30 minutes before the start of the scheduled programme time of the event. For further help, contact information can be found here

For WWE events

If you’ve ordered through your Sky box then you can only cancel through your Sky box. This can only be done 30 minutes before the start of the scheduled programme time of the event.

If you’ve ordered online or over the phone you can cancel up to five hours before the start of the scheduled programme time of the event by calling the BT Sport Box Office team on 0800 876 6980

Sky HD: if you’ve ordered through your Sky box and you don’t tune in to the event, you won’t be charged.

Sky Q: if you’ve ordered through your Sky box, you’ll be charged unless you cancel 30mins before the event starts. This is because all Box Office events are automatically recorded on Sky Q.

In either case if you’ve ordered online or over the phone, you’ll always be charged for the event, even if you don’t watch it. 

You’ll only be entitled to a full refund if:

  • the event is cancelled
  • there’s a broadcast service issue during the event that impacts all customers

No, but content will often be shown on the BT Sport channels in the hours leading up to the event. To find out more go to the BT Sport Box Office page or refer to the programme guide on your TV.

Using your Sky remote control, select Guide > Box Office > then select the event you want to check. If you’ve bought the event, it will show as Rented.

BT Sport Box Office on BT TV

You can order an event on BT Sport Box Office on channel 494/495 or via BT Player on your BT TV box and following the on-screen instructions.

You can only buy BT Sport Box Office events on your BT TV box, not online or over the phone.

You need to have fibre broadband to order and watch via your BT TV Box. If you have copper broadband, you can still order and watch via the BT Sport Box Office app. Please note the BT Sport Box Office app is not available for WWE events.

Yes, and you’ll be able to view it for up to 7 days after the initial showing of the event.

If you have an extra box you can watch the BT Sport Box Office event on either or both of your boxes.

The BT Sport Box Office event charge will be added to your BT bill.

You can cancel on your BT TV box up to half an hour before the start time of the scheduled event.

Using your BT TV remote control, select BT Player > then scroll to My Zone. If you’ve bought event it will show under My Rentals.

BT Sport Box Office on web and app

No – anyone can purchase and view a BT Sport Box Office event.  You do not need to use a BT ID or BT Sport log in – the BT Sport Box Office events are available to anyone in the UK.

Please note that you can’t purchase the event from within the app itself so the first step would be to buy the event online.  You can do that here – www.bt.com/sportboxoffice

 

You will also need to download the BT Sport Box Office app from your normal app store provider and the app is then used to view the event you purchased.

The event can be viewed on your mobile or a big screen device which your mobile can cast too (Chromecast and Airplay compatible devices).

You must register and create an account if you have not bought a box office event before (on the app) in order to then watch on the app.

To create an account – follow the registration “sign up” process which begins on the website

If you have already have an account go to the URL, Log in, select the event you wish to purchase and then following the purchase instructions.

You can pay with a credit or debit card

You can also pay via your EE, O2 or Three mobile billing account

You only pay online if you want to use the Box Office App to watch the event.

-        Please go to your normal app store provider and search for the BT Sport Box Office app.  You can then download it and use it to view the purchase you made online.

-        You can watch the event via the BT Sport Box Office app on a phone or tablet

-        To view on a large screen device you can cast the BT Sport Box Office app using Chromecast or Airplay supported devices.

During the event, Live Chat is available so you can speak to someone once you’ve signed in to your BT Sport Box Office account.

Currently WWE is not available to watch and buy through the app.  WWE is available from BT Sport Box Office through BT TV, Sky and Virgin Media TV.

UFC and Boxing are available when announced as a box office event but currently not WWE.  WWE is available from BT Sport Box Office through BT TV, Sky and Virgin.

When you buy on BT TV, Sky TV or Virgin Media TV you can only watch the event on that TV platform.  If you want to watch online or on the app that would be a separate, additional purchase, you would need to make via the website.  The purchase on the TV platforms isn’t transferrable.

‘BT Box Office’. If you’re paying using EE, O2, Vodafone or Three billing, please check that you have the bill payer’s permission.

Yes. When signing up for the BT Sport Box Office app just change the payment method to ‘Pay by Mobile – EE, O2, Three’.

Yes, you will be able to watch the main event again within the app, once the original event has ended.

You’ll need a broadband internet connection (DSL/cable or higher) of 800 kbps or higher. If you have an internet connection speed of 3Mbps or higher and your computer meets the requirements below, you’ll be able to stream at the highest video quality.

If you’re having problems viewing the event you can try these options:

Clear your web browser cache ('Temporary Internet files') and cookies. Depending on your web browser (Google Chrome, IE, Firefox, Safari) you can do this with your Tools or Options menu. After you delete your temporary Internet files, it’s very important you close down ALL web browser windows and tabs and then relaunch your web browser.

Also, you may want to try an alternate web browser in order to rule out any browser-specific issue.
