Here you'll find help for problems with BT Web Protect.
BT Web Protect doesn’t inspect content returned from a site, it looks at the URL and whether that URL has been categorised as potentially harmful or not. Sites such as ‘Google’, where search results appear, are defined as ‘Search Engines’ and are not categorised as potentially harmful by BT Web Protect so they, and their content, will still display.
If you click on a link from a search engine and the site you are accessing from the link is categorised as potentially harmful by BT Web Protect, you will receive the warning page recommending you do not continue to visit the website.
BT Web Protect and BT Virus Protect, as well as some other internet security software solutions, all include warning pages if you’re about to visit a potentially harmful website, so you may get a double layer of protection by being presented with more than one warning. With BT Web Protect and BT Virus Protect you can override these warnings if you wish to continue to the site.
The warning page will appear anytime a site is categorised as potentially harmful by BT Web Protect. It may be that some malicious content has made its way onto your site which is why BT Web Protect categorises it as potentially harmful.
If you think a site shouldn’t be categorised as potentially harmful, you can contact us at saferbrowsing@bt.com providing the details of the site you believe is being incorrectly categorised and we'll send this to our third-party supplier for further investigation. If it is verified as potentially harmful, you will need to contact your site administrator to resolve the issue on your website.

There is no limit to how often you can select ‘Continue anyway’.

We recommend using a BT Hub. However, if you don’t have one, you can still use BT Web Protect but you must make sure that you are using the BT DNS settings automatically assigned from the network. You may need to check the instructions that came with your router for how to do this.
If the app you are using attempts to connect to a website that is considered harmful BT Web Protect will protect your device by blocking access to the website. As you are not accessing the website from a browser the app may not present the warning. It will depend on the implementation of the app you are using.
