Problems with Battery Back Up

This article helps you diagnose any issues you may have with your Battery Back Up - lights or sounds - and covers testing it regularly.

Battery Back Up lights and sounds

You might have Battery Back Up (black), or Battery Back Up Plus (white).

 

Battery Back Up

Lights

System Status: Green light

Battery Back Up is working normally.

 

DC: Green light

The battery is supplying power. When it reaches 45% charge, the light will flash, and the alarm will beep 4 times per minute.

 

Mute: Orange light flashing

The Battery Back Up alarm is turned off.

Press and hold the Alarm Silence button for a second to turn the volume on or off. The light will flash to confirm the change.

If you turn the volume off, the alarm will be silent for 24 hours.

 

Mute: Orange light solid

The Battery Back Up alarm is turned off.

Press and hold the Alarm Silence button for 15 seconds until you hear 2 beeps to turn the volume on or off. The light will stay lit to confirm the change.

This alarm will stay off until you press and hold the Alarm Silence button for another 15 seconds.

 

Battery: Red light

The battery needs to be replaced or is missing.

The alarm will beep once every 15 minutes.

 

Sounds

Battery Back Up beeping

Check Battery Back Up hasn't been disconnected from the mains power.

If it continues to beep and you also have a red light, contact us so we can send you a replacement device.

If it starts to beep during a power cut, you'll still have at least an hour to make calls.

 

Battery Back Up Plus

 

Lights

White light

Battery Back Up Plus is working normally.

 

Green light

Battery Back Up Plus is powering your equipment due to a power cut.

You don’t need to do anything.

 

Flashing green light

Battery Back Up Plus is in hibernation mode. It has 25% of a full charge left and saves this for when needed.

Press the button to use the 25% charge when you need it.

 

Red light

Internal fault. Contact us.

 

Sounds

2 short tones

Battery Back Up Plus is powering your equipment due to a power cut.

 

1 long tone

Battery Back Up Plus is in hibernation mode. It has 25% of its charge left and is saving this for when you need it.

Press the button to use the 25% charge when you need it.

 

1 long tone

Battery empty.

Charge your Battery Back Up Plus.

 

Recommended monthly test

We recommend you test your Battery Back Up once a month.

  1. Turn your Hub off at the mains socket.
  2. If the blue light on your Hub stays on, your Battery Back Up is working.
