Using Call Protect with Digital Voice

About BT Call Protect

BT Call Protect helps to prevent unwanted nuisance calls and can be managed easily in your settings. Choose which calls you want to send to a junk voicemail, identify your VIPs, and keep your phone free of spam.

Call Protect is included with your home phone package at no extra cost. To manage your call features you need a BT ID.

Set up a BT ID

You can manage all your settings online at My BT or from your home phone by dialling 1572. Calls to 1572 are free.

Types of call blocking using Call Protect

You can choose to send calls from certain categories to your junk voicemail. The 3 call types are

  1. international numbers
  2. withheld numbers
  3. unrecognised numbers.

Unrecognised numbers show as unavailable with caller display and BT 1471.

BT Blocklist

We've identified a list of nuisance callers who we'll automatically send to your junk voicemail when you have BT Call Protect.

To view contacts and to edit your blocklist:

  1. Open My BT
  2. select BT Call Protect page
  3. select Your Blocklist
  4. select Manage
  5. select Switch On/Switch Off.

To remove a number from your Blocklist:

  1. Open My BT
  2. open the BT Call Protect page
  3. select Your Blocklist
  4. select More
  5. select the number you’d like to remove
  6. select Delete.

Personal Blocklist

You can add up to 100 numbers phone numbers to your own personal blocklist. This means that any future calls from those numbers will go to your junk voicemail. This feature will also be automatically switched on when you get BT Call Protect but won’t have any numbers until you add some.

You can add numbers and edit your personal blocklist by going to MY BT > BT Call Protect Homepage > Your Blocklist > Manage

Call Protect with BT 1571 and Call Minder

When you have BT Call Protect with a personal voicemail service of BT Answer 1571 or Call Minder, you automatically receive two additional features to manage your calls:

  • VIP list - Make sure your important calls are never sent to your junk voicemail
  • Do Not Disturb - Send calls to your voicemail at set times. When it’s active, all your wanted calls will be sent to your personal voicemail (1571 or Call Minder) and unwanted calls will carry on going to your junk voicemail (1572).

To upgrade your service, go to www.bt.com/managemyproducts and

  • select Home phone
  • select Change my Calling Features
  • select Manage my Calling Features and choose either BT Answer 1571 or Call Minder.
