Connecting your BT 4G Home Hub to the internet

To connect your Hub to the internet wirelessly:

  • Connect your Hub to the PC via a cable or Wi-Fi connection
  • Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar then press Enter
  • From the homepage, click Change your BT 4G Home Hub SSID and password
  • Enter username and password and click Log in
  • Click Setup then Data connection
  • Click the Auto radio button next to Connection mode
  • Click Apply. If prompted, click Disconnect then Apply
  • To reconnect your device, click Status
  • Click Connect and your Hub should now connect to the internet automatically

    • This is how you change the Wi-Fi network name on your Hub and set it up as a Wi-Fi hotspot:

  • Connect the Hub to your computer via a cable or Wi-Fi connection
  • Launch a web browser and in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1/ then click the magnifying glass icon or press Enter
  • From the homepage, click Change your BT 4G Home Hub SSID and password
  • Enter your username and password, then click Log In
  • Click the SSID field under the required frequency 2.4GHz or 5GHz
  • Enter the network name
  • Click the Security dropdown and select the security type, for example WPA2
  • Click the Wi-Fi Key field and enter the password
  • Click Apply and if prompted, click OK
  • The Wi-Fi network name has been changed and the BT 4G Home Hub has been set up as a Wi-Fi hotspot, so you can access the internet wirelessly from your devices.

    • If you want to avoid interference from neighbouring networks, you can change the Wi-Fi channel on your Hub:

    1. Connect your Hub to your computer via a cable or Wi-Fi connection
    2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1/ then press Enter
    3. Click LOG IN HERE to access settings
    4. Enter your username and password, then click Log In
    5. Click WLAN then Advanced Settings
    6. Click the Channel dropdown then select the channel and click Apply

    Just so you know, most Wi-Fi routers in the UK use channels 1, 6 and 11 as these are the default channels for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. We recommended to try these channels first, before any others.

    To disconnect from the network:

    1. Connect your Hub to your computer via a cable or Wi-Fi connection
    2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/ and press Enter
    3. From the homepage, click Change your BT 4G Home Hub SSID and password
    4. Enter your username and password then click Log In
    5. Click Status then Disconnect
