Frequently asked questions
What does EE and BT coming together mean for me?
BT and EE are coming together to create the UK’s no. 1 broadband and mobile provider.
It means that if you choose to move your broadband to EE you’ll be with the broadband provider with faster speeds in more places than anywhere else and the UK’s best mobile network.
You’ll continue to get everything you expect from BT – engineering, expertise, reliability – along with the innovation and service from EE.
Does this affect my BT broadband, and will I need to change my contract?
Your broadband and contract will only change when you’re ready to move to new EE. We recommend moving to EE so that you can get the best experience from us.
Why and when do I need to move to EE?
You can choose to move to EE when you’re ready. We recommend moving to EE because you’ll benefit from even better connectivity in and out of the home.
What is the switching process - will you need to send an engineer?
Moving to EE broadband is the same process as if you choose to move to another BT broadband product. So, we’ll let you know if you need an engineer during the checkout process.
Will there be any interruption to my service?
There shouldn’t be any interruption to your service if you choose to move your BT broadband to EE broadband.
What if I don’t want to switch to EE, can I stay on BT?
You don’t have to switch to EE until you’re ready. For now, you can choose to stay on BT, but we recommend moving to EE to get the best experience from us.
I don’t know anything about EE broadband, will it be as good as BT?
EE has faster broadband speeds in more places than anywhere else, with speeds up to 1.6Gbps. It has the strength to connect up to 190 devices at the same time and it’s powered by BT technology.
Plus, if you take our Wi-Fi Optimiser you can boost your broadband for working from home, or turbo charge your play with Work Mode and Game Mode – only with EE. And you’ll get regular checks to keep your broadband running at its best. It’s broadband built for your life.
What will this cost me?
You’ll get a personalised EE broadband offer when you choose to move to EE. Log in to My BT to see yours.
What does it mean for my other BT products?
Broadband: Your broadband will become EE broadband if you choose to move.
Home phone: If you have a home phone with us and would like to keep this when you choose to move your broadband, this will also change to EE, and you’ll need to choose one of our EE calling plans

EE TV: If you have TV with us, on 6 December this will be renamed to EE TV, but there is no change to your bill, price, or content.
[Alt from 6 Dec: EE TV: if you have TV with us, this is now EE TV, but there is no change to your bill, price, or content. If you move your broadband, you’ll also need to move to our new TV service.]
We’ll be in touch with you when it’s the right time to consider moving your products with us.
Can I cancel my BT broadband contract because of this?
No, if you’re in contract with BT, you will not be able to cancel. If you’re out of contract, you will be able to cancel.
