Subpart 5:Network Features

Remote Call Forwarding 10 (RCF10), Subs Controlled Transfer Equipment (SCTE) and Night Busying Service withdrawn from service with effect from 31 December 2006.

Network Features offer enhanced services on BT lines and are charged for by means of a mix of connection, rental and call charges.

Eligibility

Available to all customers with the following exclusions:

  • - In Contact Plus customers.
  • - Temporary Service Lines.
  • - ISDN Lines. (Only on occasions whereby an ISDN 30 installation is CEASED can the `Caller Redirect' service be used against a ceased number or DDI range. In no circumstances can this service be used on a live ISDN installation).
  • - BT Direct Connect is only available on single business PSTN lines served by a digital exchange.

Some services are also available on multi lines, ISDN2e and ISDN30 lines. For clarification please contact BT Customer Services.

Conditions

  • 1. Service is provided under BT's Terms & Conditions for Business Service or BT's terms and conditions for residential service as appropriate.
  • 2. There is a minimum rental term of 12 months for Network Features, with the exception of SMART Divert, Caller Redirect (CNI) and Presentation Number, which is 3 months. There is no minimum term for Choose To Refuse or Anonymous Call Reject.
  • 3. The following conditions will apply if BT accepts a Customer's application for Caller Redirect service.
    • a) The application must specify the date the service is to start and a number to be supplied to callers. Also, a forwarding correspondence address is required.
    • b) The charge for this service is additional to any other charges that may be payable.
    • c) Conditions for Telephone Service remain in force until the Caller Redirect Service is terminated.
  • 4. For those customers subject to nuisance calls, who request Choose To Refuse, the charge will be waived for a one month period. Customers may only have the free one month service once in any six month period. Customers when moving premises within the one month period may re-request the service, if taking their original telephone number with them.

Additional Information

Remote Call Forwarding

The charges are in addition to all forwarded call charges at the appropriate dialled rates, plus exchange line rental.

The renter of the service pays the appropriate dialled call rates for the diverted leg of the call. The caller pays for the call to the number dialled.

The charge for change of `divert-to' number is a one-off payment, and is charged on a per occasion basis.

Admin Services

Admin Call Diversion charges include application (setting up) and restoration of the service. The service is provided and restored by BT and used to divert calls on a temporary basis at short notice. It is not suitable for use on ceased installations.

BT Direct Connect

In addition to the quarterly rental for BT Direct Connect, standard exchange line rental and forwarded call charges at the appropriate dialled rates also apply.

With BT Direct the following applies:

  • - The line is Outgoing Calls Barred (OCB) to all other numbers (inc.999).
  • - Other BT Calling/Network Features are not permitted on the line.
  • - The telephone number must be ex-directory.

Remote Call Forwarding

The rental charges are in addition to exchange line rental.

Smart Divert

Calls made to change the divert number remotely are charged at the appropriate dialled call rates.

The diverted part of the call is charged to the renter of the service at the appropriate dialled rates. The caller pays for the call to the number dialled.

Smart Divert is only available to the following international destinations: Australia (including Christmas & Cocos Islands), Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, United States (excluding Hawaii).

Smart Divert is not available to Premium Rate numbers.

When using the Smart Divert service it is not possible to divert calls using Indirect Access codes.

BT Choose to Refuse

Is a trademark of BT in the UK. A Touchtone telephone is required to operate the service.

Some International numbers cannot be barred as the full CLI is not usually available.

0800 numbers that are being used as presentation numbers cannot be barred as the Choose to Refuse service acts upon the underlying network CLI

Anonymous Call Reject

It must be clearly understood that Anonymous Call Reject will prevent all calls getting through that have their number witheld, these may be bona fide calls which the customer may wish to receive but is prevented from doing so because the caller cannot release their number. This may also include calls from the Emergency Services.

Anonymous Call Reject (Multi Line Groups)

Anonymous Call Reject (Multi line Groups) is available to Business customers only. It is charged on a per Installation basis with one ACR being allowed per Installation. A survey has to be completed to determine the provision date.

Caller Redirect

This service provides an announcement informing callers of your new telephone number. It does not redirect the call.

Presentation Number

Presentation Number (PN) is available to Business customers only. It is charged on a per Installation basis with one PN being allowed per installation. These can only be ordered via the Presentation Number Service Centre, using the PN order form, which has to be signed by an authorised representative of the company requesting the service. The form, available from BT's web site, requires that the customer complies with legal requirements embodied in the Ofcom Code of Practice concerning the ownership and ability of the requested PN to receive calls. A PN must not be a number that connects to a revenue sharing number that generates an excessive or unexpected call charge. (NB the exploitation of a Presentation Number to generate revenue-sharing calls may constitute persistent misuse of an Electronic Communications Service and may result in the withdrawal of the service)
