A payment processing fee applies where customers settle their BT bills using non-automated payment methods. Automated methods are defined as Direct Debit and Monthly Payment Plan. The payment processing fee is levied by BT Payment Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of British Telecommunications plc |
RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS |
Eligibility |
The payment processing fee is applicable to residential customers with either:
Telephony, Broadband or Broadband Talk accounts.

The payment processing fee is applied at the point of bill production if the Customer has not agreed to settle the bill by either Direct Debt or Monthly Payment Plan. The payment processing fee is applied in full and is not dependant on the length of the billing period. |
The payment processing fee is applied once per account, irrespective of the number of products associated with that account. If the Customer chooses multiple billing accounts and wishes to pay by non-automated method, the payment processing fee will be raised on each account. Exceptionally if the Customer requests a single account but BT is unable to provide this, then a single payment processing fee will be raised. |
The payment processing fee will not be applied more than once in a billing period. |
Broadband Customers with standalone BT Yahoo! accounts prior to 1 May 2007 will not incur the payment processing fee. |
The following bill types will not incur the payment processing fee: Usage only, Usage limit breached, Supplementary and Final bills. |
Customers with the following Options will not incur the payment processing fee: |
BT Pay&CallBasic (BT Pay&Call was withdrawn on 31st December 2009),
BT Basic;
In Contact Plus; and
Light User Scheme.

Bills with no rental or usage charges will not incur the payment processing fee |
Separate Broadband Talk accounts will incur the payment processing fee. However, the fee will not be raised on BT Broadband Talk accounts which were either set up prior to 1 May 2007 or where Broadband Talk is available free of charge with BT Total Broadband. |
Accounts with the following types of Lines will not incur the payment processing fee:
ISDN2
Private Payphone,
lines with inclusive terminal apparatus,
Temporary Service,
Non Served Premises lines; and
Alternatively routed lines.

Unless otherwise advised by BT, the Customer will pay all charges by direct debit or monthly payment plan. |
Unless otherwise advised by BT, payments made other than by direct debit or monthly payment plan will be collected by BT Payment Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of BT. BT Payment Services Limited will levy a payment processing fee, as set out in the Price List. This fee will be deducted from any money received before any payment is allocated against the charges for the Service. |

Exclusions: |
The payment processing fee will not apply in the following situations:
- One-off, Supplementary and Final bills.
- Stand alone bills which cover BT mobile or BT Business Broadband only
- Bills for customers who are part of the Service Provider Group Business Unit
- Bills generated from BT’s OneBill Plus service
