Subpart 1:Internal Shifts of Exchange Line Wiring

Internal shifts of exchange line wiring apply where a customer requests the main socket (linebox) to be moved to another location within the same building. Shifting or provision of extension wiring is covered in Section 6 Part 1

Per line shifted (line shift charge)

Charge for a single line shift will be a visit charge plus line shift charge.

If additional lines are shifted on the same engineer visit, the line shift charge will also apply per additional line.

If the customer requests work to be carried out at any other time, then Supplementary Timescale charge for Provision and Rearrangement work (see Section 15 Part 8)

Conditions

The Visit Charges will not apply if the customer cancels the appointment before the BT engineer has arrived at the premises. However, once the BT engineer has arrived at the premises, the Visit Charge will apply if work is cancelled or postponed by the customer, or if the appointment is not kept by the customer.

Additional Information

The Visit Charge does not apply if a BT engineer is already visiting the building to undertake work where a Visit Charge is being separately charged or one is not applicable. If the order is split between two buildings on one site, the work is treated as two jobs but one Visit Charge applies. If the order is split between two sites, then two Visit Charges apply. Where BT decides to complete the internal shift over several visits which could in BT's opinion have been carried out in a single Visit Charge will apply per engineer. Otherwise, a Visit Charge applies per engineer per visit.
