Friends & Family Auto Update is a residential scheme that will automatically optimise a 10% discount on the top eligible 5, 10 and 15 numbers (the "Calling Circle") called. The size of the Calling Circle varies by Calling Plan. The optimised numbers may be fixed UK numbers, some Number Translated Services (NTS) numbers, Mobile Networks numbers, or International number, including INMARSAT Shore -to-Ship numbers.

Customers can not nominate the Calling Circle numbers. However, customers may nominate a UK number (which cannot be an International number and most NTS numbers), as the BestFriend number, which will receive a 20% discount. The Best Friend number is additional to the Calling Circle.

The discount applies to direct dialled calls and direct dialled BT Chargecard calls. It is normally applied to the basic call price, which is the price of the call before any other discount is applied.

Excluded Calls

• -As a Friends & Family Auto Update customer the following numbers will not be included in your Friends & Family Auto Update Calling Circle: Customer Categories 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10. Full details of the excluded calls can be found in Section 2 Part 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 of the BT Price List
• -For Best Friend Number. Calls to numbers shown in Section 2 Part 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 of the BT Price List with a Categorisation for Customer Options of 2, 4, 5 and 7 are excluded.
• -Please note: 0845 numbers may be nominated as your Best Friend number, but will not be included in the Friends & Family Auto Update Calling Circle.
• - Operator Controlled calls
• - BT Pay&Call Customers making calls via Text Relay ie 1800X
• - CreditCall charges
• - European Mobile Satellite System (Emsat) calls
• -Thuraya calls
• -Iridium calls
• - BT Service Numbers (eg 150, 151)
• - Inmarsat M4 High Speed Data calls
• -ISDN2 and ISDN2e.
• -Calling Feature Facility fees e.g. Call Return Press 3 (1471 3).
