Customers who take out telephone service are entitled to at least one free entry in The Phone Book and on the directory enquiry service: entitlement to additional free entries varies depending on the type of telephone service.
We recognise that our customers have varying requirements for privacy and contactability and so we offer three levels of directory entry:
Full Directory Entry (DE) - which ensures their contact details are listed in all BT's directory products and services
Directory Enquiries Only (DQR) - which removes their details from printed directories but retains them on Directory Enquiry services. This option prevents disclosure of the customer's address.
Ex-Directory (XD) - which removes their details from published directories and prevents their number being divulged through directory enquiry services.
BT is required to make its directory data available to other directory service providers and to include their data in its own products and services. The uses to which this data can be put are strictly controlled.
Eligibility
All customers are entitled to choose the status of their listing according to the three options listed above.
Pricing Information
Every customer is entitled to one free directory entry. Additional charges may apply for more entries. These are independent of entry type. The charges for additional entries are listed in this Part.
Additional and Special Entries
To help our customers be more readily identifiable in our range of directory products and services, we provide the facility for them to have additional entries, additional text inserted in their listing or to have their entry printed in a bold or super-bold typeface.
Eligibility
All BT customers are eligible for this facility. Non-BT customers should consult their telephone service provider.
Pricing Information
All customers receive one directory entry in ordinary type as part of their BT line rental. Customers paying business line rental tariff may also include a 3 word business description in their entry.
Bold/Superbold type, cross references and additional entries are chargeable in addition at the rates shown below.
If BT accepts the customer's application for a special/additional entry, the following conditions apply:
i. The entry will appear in the next issue of the telephone directory.
ii. Rental for the entry is payable on the first day of the month of its publication.
iii. Either BT or the customer may at any time give to the other written notice to withdraw the entry.
Rental for the entry ceases to be payable on the first day of the month of the next issue's publication.
iv. Where BT Retail enters the required directory information onto the directory database, OSIS DMS, then charges will be billed on a quarterly basis as indicated above. However, where a Communications Provider makes the directory entries onto OSIS DMS themselves, themselves, then the charge for each SDESPBE willwill be billed annually.
If the customer cancels the entry or ceases the exchange line to which the special entry applies, he/she may be liable for charges until this time, up to a maximum of six quarterly rental payments.
