Subpart 3:BT Answer 1571

BT Answer 1571 is a voice messaging service that answers incoming calls when there is no reply or the line is busy.

ELIGIBILITY

BT Answer 1571 is available to single line customers.

For Residential customers, BT Answer 1571 standard service is included for BT Together customers who make some chargeable or inclusive calls (excludes calls made with BT Broadband Talk) with BT. The following charging rules apply:

  • If you are billed monthly, at least two chargeable or inclusive calls must be made with BT within that month. Otherwise a charge of £0.98(Inc VAT) a month for the BT Answer 1571 standard service will be raised.
  • If you are billed every three months, at least six chargeable or inclusive calls must be made with BT within those three months. Otherwise a charge of £2.94(Inc VAT) every three months for the BT Answer 1571 standard service will be raised.

BT Answer 1571 - Personal Greeting & BT Answer 1571 - Message Alert are available to single line customers.

Calls that are answered by the BT Answer 1571 will be charged at normal rates.

Call Return (1571)

If a customer has the facility to dial 1571 (Call Minder, BT Answer customers) on their line and retrieve messages, they will be able to dial 1571 followed by 0 to return a message.

Where a customer attempts to return the call by pressing 0, an additional charge will be incurred in addition to the normal dialled rates. In these circumstances the additional charge relates to the provision of the return call attempt and applies irrespective of whether the call is answered or not. Please note that Customers registered with BT as disabled are not subject to this charge. (to enquire about this register call 195).

Customers can withhold their numbers on a per call basis by prefixing that number with 141. The permanent number withhold facility will withhold the numbers for all calls.

Call Return is available to all single line customers. It is not available on PBX lines. Additionally, this service may not be compatible with certain types of payphone.

CONDITIONS

  • 1.BT Answer 1571 is provided under the conditions for BT Telephony Services'.
  • 2.There is no minimum period of service.
  • 3.BT Answer 1571 is not available to customers who have either In Contact or In Contact Plus.
  • 4.The BT Answer 1571 Personal Greeting and Message Alert products can not be provided together. Customers are advised to consider Call Minder or Call Minder Multi.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A TouchTone telephone is needed to use the BT Answer 1571 service.

Messages can only be accessed from the line to which the service is applied - remote access is not available.
