Service is provided under BT's terms and conditions for residential and business service as varied by the Conditions below. |
A new line is where there has been no previous BT PSTN connection at the location, or is in addition to other BT lines at the premises, or there is no Dial tone on the existing BT line at the premises. Additionally, it may be a replacement to another line at the premises that may have been used for supply of certain other services. New line charges may also apply if BT is unable to utilise existing wiring or installations, or if new wiring/routing is required. |
There is normally no connection charge for Residential Customers if BT service has previously existed at a premises, unless that premises has been refurbished (e.g. divided into flats, rebuilt) or extensive new construction is required, as specified at Section 45 Part 1,or new network wiring is required to be put in place by BT Openreach because the old wiring cannot be re-used. All new supply is subject to survey. |
For Business customers a connection charge is payable for new lines and details of these are set out earlier in this Part. A takeover is where there is dial tone on the existing BT PSTN line at the premises and no changes are required to the internal or external wiring. Details of the takeover charges are set out earlier in this Part. |
Additional charges are incurred where service is provided after termination caused by non-payment of charges - see Section 1 Part 18 |
In the case of residential PSTN line take-overs only, the minimum period of service is 12 months. For takeover of Business PSTN lines, a 12 or 24 month minimum term applies. Where new apparatus is provided on a Hire Agreement Contract, the 18 months minimum terms still applies. |
In the case of residential PSTN line take-overs with a, minimum period of service of 12 months, this minimum term applies to the telephone apparatus and any ancillary apparatus rented in association with the telephone line at the time of the take-over. Customers who give up service before the final spread connection instalment is paid will be liable for any remaining payments outstanding on the account. |
BT Business Line Divert - not available for new supply |
Contracts for BT Business Line Divert will be subject to the following conditions - Minimum Period - A 12 month Minimum Period will apply to new lines and to the take-over of an existing line.
- Early Termination Charges - If the customer wishes to terminate the line within the 12 month minimum period, early termination charges will apply - Section 1 Part 2 - Sub-part 3 applies.

Rebate Scheme | | Customers who successfully complete an agreed repayment plan which includes the temporary restriction of service to incoming calls only will receive a rebate for each qualifying day. | Conditions - -A qualifying day is one throughout which service is restricted to incoming calls only, (including both the day that this facility is provided and the day that it is removed) and during which time the repayment plan is being adhered to.
- -The rebate for each qualifying day will be equivalent to 1/365th of the sum of two quarters' residential Unlimited Weekend Plan exchange line rental, exclusive of VAT (see page of this Part), calculated to four decimal places.
- -Entitlement to a rebate is dependant upon the successful completion of the repayment plan as agreed with BT.
- -Once the repayment plan has been completed and full service has been restored, the number of qualifying days and the rebate due will be calculated, with the total being rounded up to the nearest penny and entered onto the customer's account, as a single credit.
- -For the purposes of this rebate scheme, BT will only consider that a repayment plan has been established if our “Postponed Payments" facility has been used. This facility sub-divides the total debt into smaller amounts, to be paid in instalments. BT will determine whether it is appropriate to use this facility.
- -The repayment plan must be agreed with BT prior to service being restricted to incoming calls only due to non-payment of an outstanding amount.

| Early Termination Charges for Business PSTN lines
If the customer terminates a contract before the end of the Minimum Period, early termination charges will apply as set out in sub-part 3: Pricing Information
| Order Cancellation Charge | If a Customer cancels a Contract or the provision of a line before Service is provided, cancellation charges will apply as set out in Pricing Information. This charge will apply to new provisions, takeovers and conversions. |
