This Section contains charges for calls through the 198 Special Assistance International Operator Service to overseas countries, Inmarsat services, Global Mobile Satellite Systems and Marine Satellite systems. It does not include calls from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland, which are listed in Section 39
Customers (e.g Disabled Customer who cannot dial or have difficulty dialling their own calls and need assistance) may use the BT Special Assistance Operator to connect calls to many destinations. Operator Controlled call charges for such customers are different from those calls made via the 155 Operator Service.
There is no charge for making a call to the 198 Operator. Charges only apply when the services described in this Section are requested.
Customers who connect to International Directory Enquiries (DQ) via the 198 Special Assistance Operator will be charged as though they had made the call direct to DQ.

The 198 Special Assistance Operator is for Disabled Customers who cannot dial or have difficulty dialling their own calls.

Calls From Ordinary Residential and Business Lines
Non-Payphone call charges are for each minute or part of a minute with the exception of calls to the Iridium and Thuraya services where the minimum fee is £1.50 (exc. VAT).
Payphone Charges for Calls to the Republic of Ireland (Except From Northern Ireland)
Payphone call charges are for each 176.25 seconds period or part of 176.25 seconds. The minimum charge is for 176.25 seconds.
Calls From Payphone Lines to the Republic of Ireland (Except Northern Ireland)
Payphone calls charges are for each 176.25 seconds period or part of 176.25 seconds. The minimum charge is for 176.25 seconds.
Calls From Payphone Lines in Northern Ireland to Mobile Telephones registered in the Republic of Ireland
Payphone calls charges are for each 176.25 seconds period or part of 176.25 seconds. The minimum charge is for 176.25 seconds.
Payphone Charges for International Destinations (Except Republic of Ireland)
Payphone calls charges are for each 58.75 seconds or part of 58.75 seconds.

International Call Charges to Mobile Telephones and other Special and Higher Rate Services
International calls to some mobile telephones and other special and higher rate services will be charged at 21.27p (ex VAT)/ 25.52p(inc VAT) per minute more than the equivalent International call to fixed telephones. The amount inclusive of VAT is the amount of money that will be inserted at a BT Public Payphone. VAT exclusive prices will be used to calculate the charges for calls made via the operator from rented payphone lines.

Additional Information
The call charge is rounded up to a whole penny. The timed duration of a call includes the time element for setting up and disconnecting the call on the BT network.
