Part 3:Private Payphone Lines - Product Withdrawn from New Supply 30.09.2009

Subpart 1:Private Payphone Lines

BT's private payphone lines are provided on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) exchange line (the Ordinary line).

Subpart 2:Eligibility

All customers with a private Payphone, except those using PSTN split line voice service.

Subpart 3:Pricing Information

This service is charged as per the Ordinary lines tariff, see Section Part 2 for charges including Rental, Connection, Take-Over and Cancellation charges.

See Section 15 Part 7 for additional charges if extensive new construction is required.

BT customers who rent or have purchased a BT payphone for use on a private payphone line, will be automatically barred from accessing fixed fee services, with the exception of those classed as social inclusion services. DQ calls to 118 xxx are also barred from these lines, however, customers can opt in to a limited range of 118 xxx numbers.

Where a hospital, nursing home, charity home or convalescence home wishes to provide payphone facilities for the use of its residents, a concessionary rental will apply where the line is provided in patients' wards and day care facilities, on condition that a business line exists in the same premises for the administrative running of the establishment. Connection charges at residential rates apply. The concessionary rates are available to BT lines only. The concessionary rates are only available specifically to these customer types and are not available to OLOs.

Subpart 4:Conditions

Service is provided under BT's Terms & Conditions for Business Service or BT's terms and conditions for residential service as appropriate as amended by the conditions below.

  • 1. An approved Payphone must, at all times, be connected to the Payphone line.
  • 2. No call connect system may be connected to the Payphone line.
  • 3. On application from the customer BT will programme any BT Payphone connected to the Payphone line which is of the type that can be programmed so that no charge is made for a Directory Enquiry call.
