Section 39:Inland Operator Calls

Part 3:Ex-Directory Calls Offered - Not Available for New Supply

Subpart 1:Ex-Directory Calls Offered - Not Available for New Supply

This is a service for a customer whose number is Ex-Directory. The operator will connect calls to the number at the customer's discretion.

When the customer's number is requested from Directory Enquiries, the caller will be told that the number is ex-directory, but that the customer may accept a call connected by the operator. The caller must dial the 100 operator to use this service.

The 100 operator will call the ex-directory number and ask if the customer wishes to accept the call. It will only be connected if the customer agrees. The caller must give the operator any information needed by the ex-directory customer to decide whether to accept the call.

Neither Directory Enquiries nor the 100 operator will give the ex-directory number to the caller.

Eligibility

This service is available to any BT line with an ex-directory number.

Pricing Information

The ex-directory customer pays a quarterly charge of £28.75including VAT (£25.00 excluding VAT)

Callers who are connected to the ex-directory number pay the operator service charge, which is £6.308 excluding VAT ( [Price] £7.25 including VAT) and is added to the call charge.

The call charge depends upon whether the call is made from an ordinary line or from a payphone. Call charges are listed in Part 1 of this Section.

Callers also pay the usual cost of the call to Directory Enquiries.

Conditions

BT's Terms & Conditions for Business Service or BT's terms and conditions for residential service as appropriate apply.

There is no call charge to the caller if the call cannot be connected, or if the called person refuses to accept it. The Directory Enquiries call charge is payable in every case.

Additional Information

There are two other services for customers who do not want to publish their number. Both of them are free.

(1) Standard Ex-Directory service: the number is excluded from both the Phone Book and Directory Enquiry listings.

(2) Directory Enquiry Records Only service: the number is excluded from the Phone Book, but listed on Directory Enquiries so that it can be given to callers who know the name and address.
