Section 39:Inland Operator Calls


Part 1:Operator Call Charges

Subpart 1:Operator Assisted Calls

Customers may use a BT Operator to connect calls to many destinations.

There is no charge for making a call to the 100 operator. Charges only apply when the services described in this Section are requested.

Charges for calls made through the 100 Operator differ to those made through the 198 Special Assistance Operator as shown in Part 7 of this Section.

Customers who connect to Directory Enquiries (DQ) via the 100 Operator will be charged as though they had made the call direct to DQ.

Charges for calls made through the 100 operator service generally have two parts: an Operator Service Charge, which is a fixed amount for each call, and a Call Charge based on the type of call and how long it lasts.

This part describes the Call Charges. The Operator Service Charges are covered in the other parts of this Section.

The charges below apply to calls from BT lines to numbers in the UK, Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Calls can only be made to the services shown in this section, and not to all the services available for directly-dialled calls.

Charges are for each minute or part thereof. The minimum call charge is for five minutes.

Calls to Republic of Ireland From Northern Ireland From Ordinary Residential and Business Lines

Calls from Northern Ireland to fixed telephones in the Republic of Ireland will be charged at the appropriate Inland rate. Calls from Northern Ireland to mobile telephones registered in the Republic of Ireland will be charged at the same rate as calls from the rest of the United Kingdom to mobile telephones registered in the Republic of Ireland.

Calls to the Channel Islands and Isle of Man

Calls to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are charged at National rate.

Operator Calls to Other Services From Ordinary Residential and Business Lines

Charges are for each minute or part thereof. The minimum call charge is for five minutes.

Additional Information

Call durations are measured up to the whole second and the call charge is rounded up to half of a penny. The timed duration of a call includes the time element for setting up and disconnecting the call on the BT network.

Notes

(a) These are calls other than Local, National and Mobile where the Operator can onward connect (mostly to Personal Numbering Services).

NB It is not permitted for the Operator to onward connect calls to Premium Rate Services.
