BT expects that all variants of MetroStream services will be withdrawn from new supply at the end of 2020. This service provides connection, by digital private circuits, from an SDH hub site, within the customer site, to satellite sites. There may be additional charges made depending on exact circumstances or special requirements, e.g. for special duct provision or added security. BT MetroStream services are dedicated digital links offering a point to point service for a customer's exclusive use. Key features include high quality transmission, performance and reliability with nationwide coverage. All circuits are monitored for break of service alarms. A range of interface options is offered. |
|
All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT. |
The MetroStream product is priced according to bandwidth required. There are connection charges for each local end, and annual rentals for each local end and main link. The main link is priced according to the distance between the BT local exchanges at each end, rounded up to the nearest kilometre. |
MetroStream service is a site-based option available to customers within the 0207 Telephone area, which now encompasses 0203 numbers within the same area. A MetroStream site must be a single building, to which either a unique post code or very similar post codes will apply. Customers must nominate hub sites within the 0207 telephone code area to become MetroStream Sites, where every MetroStream Circuit must terminate on a MetroStream Site. |
For circuits that link two premises within the City of London Zone ('CLZ Circuits'), fixed rental charges (that cover both local end and main link components) will be made. |
|
There are restrictions on the use of MetroStream, customers will be eligible for MetroStream provided the following criteria are met: Minimum of 11 MetroStream services at the SDH Hub Site |
Note that MetroStream is not eligible for the Prime Discount option however it is eligible for inclusion in NetStream Enterprise and NetStream Corporate. |
|
Circuits have connection charges raised at both customer sites. Reduced connection charges are offered for 'additional circuits' or where 'appropriate plant' exists. |
Charges for infrastructure over and above standard requirements are given in Section titled Excess ConstructionPart 1: These charges include work on internal trunking & traywork; breaking through walls; additional poles, ducts and cables; radio charges and miscellaneous non-standard or specially requested items. |
Site Connection Charges |
Connection of a MetroStream to a new site will be subject to a site connection fee. There are 2 types of site connection available for MetroStream products. |
Singleton Site - Normally a copper delivered service, this option is delivered subject to site survey to ensure service can be obtained via this medium. If service is not possible a Multiple Site delivery is required. Where additional capacity is required at a Singleton site to support more KiloStream or KiloStream N circuits the Singleton site fee will apply. |
Multiple Site - Normally delivered over fibre, or where appropriate, radio. |
Prices for site connections are as follows: |
|
Site cannot be ordered in isolation. It must be associated with a circuit order. Prices shown include the connection of the First MegaStream circuit. |
Site connection fees are raised only once at a site. Thereafter, private circuits into the site will be subject to Additional or Appropriate Circuit charges as detailed below. Site connection fees apply to all MetroStream 2Mbit/s variants. Additionally these charges will apply in instances where multiple delivery of MetroStream sub 2Mbit. circuits are required, or where a 2Mbit/s path is required to support a singleton sub 2M MetroStream circuit. |
"Additional Circuit" charges apply where: |
A MetroStream circuit is provided at a site where either a MegaStream or MetroStream circuit currently terminates, or where an existing circuit or ISDN30 access is delivered on optical fibre, where the MegaStream 2 circuit or ISDN30 access was ordered before December 31st 2001. |
or |
A MetroStream circuit is provided at a site where either a MetroStream or a MegaStream circuit currently terminates, or where an existing circuit or ISDN30 access is delivered on optical fibre, where the Multiple or Genus Site fee has been paid. |
or |
A Standard MegaStream circuit of 34Mbit/s and above is provided at a site where an existing circuit terminating at the site is a standard or Genus circuit of the same or greater bandwidth. |
BT must be able to supply the additional circuit into the same comm's room/rack and not be prevented from using the existing terminating equipment, otherwise new Site Connection fees will apply. |
"Appropriate Plant" charges apply where: |
A Standard MetroStream or MegaStream circuit of 34Mbit/s and above is provided at a site where there is an existing Standard or Genus MetroStream or MegaStream circuit of a lower bandwidth. |
Ancillary charges will apply as appropriate. |

|
Charges for internal and external shifts are for the circuit only. Additional charges may apply for removing approved terminal apparatus (see charges outlined in Sections 4 and 5) or where 2Mbit/s line plant is required to provide service. If signalling requires to be moved then Network Timescale rates will apply (see Section 15:). |
Internal Shift |
Internal shifts are not allowed as the Service Point (Network Termination Point) for the service is a common point for MetroStream products. Distribution of the service beyond the Service Point is the responsibility of the customer. |
|
External Shift |
|
|
NB: For an external shift of BT MetroStream Hub Site, the annual rental will be payable at the new site. Standard External Shift charges will apply to the circuits connected to the Hub. |

Charges for infrastructure over and above standard requirements are given in Section titled Excess ConstructionPart 1:These charges include work on internal trunking & traywork; breaking through walls; additional poles, ducts and cables; radio charges and miscellaneous non-standard or specially requested items. |
