MegaStream Ethernet has been fullywithdrawn from new supplywithdrawn. Customers should contact their BT account manager or ServiceCentre for further details. New pricing applied to circuits sold for new supply only from 5/11/2008. MegaStream Ethernet was taken out of NetStream completely for new supply and the two product-specific 'Hub-Site' and 'Bulk Connection' discount schemes were withdrawn from new supply at the same time. Important: - Pricing and discounts are not changing retrospectively for networks previously supplied at the old pricing. Any existing network components currently supplied at the old pricing may continue to use the old pricing for shifts and regrades only. Customers should contact their BT account manager or service centre for further details. New pricing is not published externally.MegaStream Ethernet provides customers with point to point bandwidth between sites utilising Ethernet interfaces at either end. Capacity is supplied to customer premises at either end, with the physical links between sites sold separately. As the access and bandwidth components run independently of each other, the customer is responsible for ensuring that sufficient capacity is available at each end to terminate the circuits. |
The customer will specify the access speed required at each site and the circuit bandwidth required between the two sites. Special pricing will apply for `Metro' circuits where Metro is defined as an end-to-end circuit where both customer sites are served from the same charging point node or any two charging points within defined city boundaries. |
The following cities qualify for `Metro' circuit pricing and equate to each city where there are more than one charging point:- London, Birmingham & Manchester. |
Main link (Circuit Bandwidth) pricing is based upon fixed bandwidths and use a route based, city-to-city approach. Prices are governed by the route of the circuits rather than the main link distance of the circuit. All routes between the eligible charging points have been allocated a route band, and prices are determined accordingly. These band prices, and the charging points, are set out later in this section. |
Accesses are sold with a minimum 12 month term. |
Main link Circuit Bandwidths are sold with a minimum 12 month term. Circuit Bandwidths can be upgraded within this period (and the new charges apply) but cannot be downgraded until the one month term has been served. The prices for circuits show the annual charge. Where the service is required for less than 12 months the charge will be based on (the annual charge divided by 12 multiplied by number of months). |

Any BT customer. |
Pricing Information |
Access Charges |
All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT. |
The Access Component provides a path into the network from customer sites. The Access provides paths, at the speeds listed below, into the network for onward connection. The flat charges, as listed table below, apply to any customer site within a 10km radial distance of the supporting charging point. Sites falling outside this limit will have a variable connection and rental charge applied, in addition to the flat rate, to a maximum of 25kms from the charging point (refer to table below for details). |
Secure variants are offered at access speeds of 100Mbit/s and 1GbE. This offers a resilient second fibre path from the charging point to the customer site, terminating on the same NTE. Note that the Resilient Option 1 variant of the 100Mbit/s Access Component is only available to sites to a maximum of 20kms from the charging point. The 1GbE variant is available to 25kms as per standard Access Components. |
An additional level of resilience is available for access speeds of 100Mbit/s and 1Gbe. Resilient Option 2 offers higher levels of security than Resilient Option 1, by offering managed diversity from the customer site to an alternate network node. Full details of the service are available from the BT Data Products website or via the account team. Availability of service and instant quotations for prices can be obtained via BT Account Teams & Service Centres. |
The 1GbE Access Component is not available from all charging points at this stage. As such the 1GbE Access Component may be served from a different charging point than sub 1GbE accesses, leading to a different radial distance and charge, or the service may not be available. |
Rentals for the Access components will be as follows: |
|
For technical reasons, it is not possible to terminate more than 15 Circuit Bandwidths on a single 100Mbit/s access. There is a limit of 400 remote sites connected to any 1GbE Access Components. |
Circuit Bandwidth Charges |
Circuit Bandwidth pricing will be dependant upon the Circuit Bandwidth required and the Network Band of the circuit. The appropriate circuit band is determined by the locations of the customer sites and the supporting charging points. Specific prices are available through the appropriate BT Sales contact. |
Where customer sites are served by the same charging point, Metro prices apply. Sites fed off different charging points but within London, Birmingham or Manchester, will also benefit from Metro prices. The charging point table below details the nodes that qualify for these charges. The Metro areas are mutually exclusive i.e. only Circuit Bandwidths linking charging points within each of the Metro areas qualify for Metro prices. |
The provision of each Circuit Bandwidth carries a connection charge of £300 (exc VAT). |
Rental charges are applied as follows: |
|
Resilient Option 2 - circuit bandwidths are available linking the resilient network nodes. Full details of the service are available from the BT Data Products website. Instant quotes for prices can be obtained via BT Account Teams & Service Centres. |
Upgrades |
Access components can no longer be upgraded to higher speeds. |
Shifts |
Where customers require their Access to be moved within the same building (internal shift), network Timescales will apply (See Section 15. Part 8 of The BT Price List). |
Where customers require their Access to be moved to a new building (external shift), this is no longer available. |
Circuit Bandwidths cannot be shifted. |
Contract Options |
MegaStream Ethernet can be included in the following Private Circuit discount schemes: |
NetStream Corporate and NetStream Enterprise All connection (excluding Ancillary Charges) upgrade and rental charges associated with the MegaStream Ethernet product contribute towards NetStream Corporate and NetStream Enterprise discount packages and qualify for the applicable discount. Refer to the BT Price List Section 12. Part 7 Sub-Part `NETSTREAM CORPORATE' and Sub-Part `NETSTREAM ENTERPRISE' for details. |
Geographic Availability |
The table below details the charging points, and the Metro Area to which the charging point belongs, if applicable. |
|
Service is currently unavailable to sites beyond 25kms from their nearest Charge point, or 20kms for the Resilient Option 1 variant. |
