Section 12:Inland Private Circuits

Part 1:Analogue Private Services

Subpart 1:Analogue Private Services

Analogue Private Circuits - General Information

With effect from 1st September 2016 all Analogue services (Analogue Standard, Analogue Premier, Baseband, MultiPoint, Omnibus, Extension SpeechLine, AccessLine 6, AccessLine 3, DealerStream 1-6) will no longer be available for new supply.

Analogue private circuits are dedicated analogue links offering point to point services for a customer's exclusive use. Other than Multipoint or Omnibus services, most analogue private circuits are considered to comprise of three sections; i.e. two local ends and a main link.

A local end is the section of a circuit which links the customer's premises to the local telephone exchange (the “Serving Exchange") and the main link is the section of the circuit which links exchanges together.

With effect from 21 June 1999, Analogue Private Services were rationalised and renamed. The following reference table shows the old names for Analogue services with their replacement service names. Engineering Performance Specifications (EPS's) are included for convenience.
