These are dedicated analogue links enabling one site to be connected to multiple sites. These services comprise of local ends, branching points, main links and spurs. Branching Points are used to concentrate and distribute individual spurs to the common main link sections. Their location is determined by the layout of BT's transmission network and the presence of routes between exchanges. Multipoint is primarily for data requirements whilst Omnibus is primarily for voice requirements. Main links interconnect branching points and local end telephone exchanges while spurs are the section of a circuit connecting the customers' premises to the branching point and may comprise either a local end or a local end plus a main link. |
