With effect from 1st September 2016 LearningStream services will no longer be available for new supply.
|
LearningStream provides dedicated 2Mbit/s private service links for institutions requiring on-line access to education content. The service is available to Schools, Further Education Colleges, Libraries, Learning Centres, Citizens' Advice Bureaux in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and Museums and Archives. |
High Bandwidth LearningStream (HBLS) provides dedicated 34Mbit/s private service links for institutions requiring on-line access to education content. It is available to those institutions detailed above. |
Own exchange 2Mbit/s circuits (links between users' premises and the hub site or in some cases, the local exchange) are provided over copper pairs. Where sites cannot be reached by this means, the service is provided over fibre optic cable or radio, at the `alternative delivery' prices shown. If a user site is not in the same local exchange area as the hub-serving exchange, a main link will be used to connect them through the BT core network to the hub site. Main links can also be used to connect hub sites to each other. |
All circuits and hub to hub links receive TotalCare Service Care levels at no additional costs (see Section 12, Part 6). Standard MegaStream reduced charges scheme options (as set out in Section 12, Parts 8) apply to all LearningStream and HBLS circuits and hub to hub links. |
A hub site is defined as a host site for 16*2, 4*2, or HBLS low, medium or high capacity equipment on which access circuits terminate. |
Hub sites must be located in a qualifying learning institution or a site as set out in Sub Part 4. |
A high capacity LearningStream hub site is one fitted with a 16*2 line system. A medium capacity LearningStream hub is one fitted with a 4*2 system. |
An HBLS high capacity hub site provides 2.48Gbit/s capacity. An HBLS medium capacity hub site provides 622Mbit/s capacity. An HBLS low capacity hub site provides 155Mbit/s capacity. |
Circuits and hubs located within the 0207 exchange area are regarded as being within the City of London Zone (CLZ) and different charges may apply as shown. |
